Client since 2012
The Sheriffs Office are the only High Court Enforcement Officers & Certificated Enforcement Agents (Bailiffs) with their own prime time BBC One show. We work with The Sheriffs Office to ensure everything is up‑to‑scratch.
An engaging new website for an engaged new (and existing) audience. This fresh responsive website not only makes the users' life easier but the clients too with improved workflow, site structure and functionality provided by the CMS.
We won't share every detail about this project otherwise we will be here all day. Sure, we want to talk about the new techniques we used to make sure this site looks great across all devices. How we remodelled the site's structure based on analysis on the website's statistics to ensure the content users are looking for is easy to find. And the effort we put in to make the site look as great as it does. However, these are all the things you probably expect any good design agency should do.
What we will tell you is the stuff normally not discussed…
A different approach
Typography first. What does that mean?
Well, it means we concentrated on the website's readability. If you think about it, on a site like The Sheriffs Office, the main user interaction will be reading. So if the text is uncomfortable to read then we're doing a great disservice to the user. Using established typographic conventions we created a pleasurable reading experience for anyone visiting the site.
A design for everyone
Now that's a bold claim, however, we really did work hard on formulating a colour palette, typographic style, layout etc. that would appeal to the widest possible audience – especially as there was a noticeable shift in the type of user visiting the site following the success of the hit prime time BBC One show The Sheriffs are Coming!
Oh, and the site was built to work on multiple devices. So no matter how you access the site, you should receive the best possible experience. Now, that's just Thoughtful.
Design tweak in 2015
In April 2015, we released an updated version of the website with a new 'presentation style' home page, the addition of 'services' landing pages and revamp interior layout.
Whereas the brief for the original website was for it to appeal to everyone, the target audience subtlety change to be more specifically targeted towards business (mainly solicitors). Of course, care was taken to not ostracise other audience types by retaining a fresh look-and-feel. So, apart from a change in messaging, the design elements were simplified and the layout widened to accommodate larger screen sizes.
Images of lions have always been a strong feature of The Sheriffs Office identity, so we were eager to retain them in this design. However, lion's are orange/brown in colour which didn't always complement the blue/red colour palette that forms part of the corporate identity. So we decided to convert them into monochromatic images which balances well with any colour and also adds an air of sophistication.S
There were already a number of existing brochures The Sheriffs Office had for the range of different services they offered, however, these no longer felt like they fitted in with the company's identity that had significantly evolved when we re-designed the website.
So we were commissioned to create a unifying design that enhanced the identity and would work across all brochures.
As you can see the results are powerful. The look is sophisticated. The range looks cohesive. The client is happy and we are delighted with the results.
The Simplicity logo produced for The Sheriffs Office is a simple idea, simply executed.
We received that call. The one that goes, 'We have a conference next week and we'd like to launch a new idea. Can you help?'
We do like a challenge so we said 'sure'.
As a brand, Simplicity needed to feel part of The Sheriffs Office family but convey a different softer message. Why? Well the idea behind Simplicity is that it's an innovative, transparent and ethical approach in enforcing high volumes of judgments on behalf of socially conscious companies. The service is being targeted to companies who are traditionally cautious in their approach in this area. Companies like Telephone and mobile phone networks, Utility companies, Broadband and cable providers etc.
So we kept it simple.
The Simplicity logo uses the same font as the main The Sheriffs Office logo, however, we gave it a glass effect that does a great job of conveying the overarching message of the brand: that the service is transparent and uncomplicated.
The logo can be placed on almost any colour background or image. And you really can't get a more cuddlier image than a lion cub!
Created for another subsidiary company, the Security identity needed to be bold, forceful and impenetrable whilst fitting in with The Sheriffs Office family of brands.
